Rooftops & Waterways

Rooftops and Waterways were created following 6-weeks of travel research (routing southward from Paris along the coast lines of Croatia, Greece and Turkey then returning northward inland thru Istanbul and Eastern European); the goal of the project was to consider the implications of colonialism and immigration as they relate to cultural development in art making. Museum research as well as trekking and photographing natural and century-old city landscapes were sources of inspiration. The tiled rooftop city-views, beaches and water views inspired the following works that "meditate on cultural gateways" - meanwhile, I fostered an appreciation for my own Croatian heritage.
